Who this policy covers
This policy describes the DropTranscript native app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, this website, and support provided by the DropTranscript developer. For questions or privacy requests, contact transcriptdrop@gmail.com.
Recordings and transcripts stay local
DropTranscript saves a local copy of each imported recording, its transcript, your edits, and speaker labels in the app’s library. Speech recognition and speaker matching run on your device.
The app does not upload recordings, transcript text, or remembered voice references to its developer or a cloud transcription service. The current app has no account system, advertising, or app analytics.
Remembered people and voice references
With Remember speakers enabled, names you add or confirm can enter the app-wide People library on that device. Clear, explicitly confirmed voice examples can create numerical voice references for later local matching. The People library does not store the source recording or transcript words, is not included in transcript exports, and does not sync between devices.
You can turn remembering off or forget an individual person. Turning it off retains the library but disables automatic remembering, learning, and recognition. Forgetting removes that person’s name and voice references from People, but existing transcript labels remain.
A local hash prevents an older transcript from silently adding a forgotten name again. Explicitly adding the person again can remember them again. A local voice match is not a verified identity record.
Model downloads
The App Store release includes its speaker models. Speaker identification and voice learning do not download models or contact Hugging Face. First use may download speech assets for your language through Apple’s operating system, under Apple’s policies. The app does not send your recording, transcript, or voice references with those requests.
After the required models are available, transcription and speaker processing run locally. There is no automatic cloud transcription fallback.
Files you import, export, or share
Importing from a cloud file provider or exporting to a synced folder uses the provider you choose. Copying or exporting a transcript does not send it to ChatGPT automatically. Any later sharing is your choice and is governed by the destination’s policies.
Be thoughtful about recordings that contain other people’s voices or personal information. Only import and share material you are entitled to use.
Retention, deletion, and backups
Recordings remain in the local app library until you delete them. Deleting a recording removes the app’s copy and transcript, not your original file, separate exports, or remembered People. People entries can be forgotten separately.
The app marks its recording and People libraries as excluded from automatic system backups. Backup behavior outside the app, as well as exported copies, depends on your device, folders, and chosen services. Export work you want to keep and retain independent copies of important recordings. There is no developer-hosted copy to recover if local files are lost.
Device security and file protection are provided by the operating system. We do not claim that a local file is immune to access by someone who controls your device.
Support email
If you email transcriptdrop@gmail.com, you choose to share your address, message, and any attachments with the developer. Support email is handled through Gmail and used to answer your request and troubleshoot the issue. Google describes its handling of email content and account data in its Privacy Policy.
The app opens your mail application without automatically attaching recordings, transcripts, or remembered voices. Please avoid sending sensitive material. You can request deletion of a support conversation by emailing the same address; email-provider backups and retention are managed by that provider.
This website
This website provides product, support, and privacy information. It has no recording uploader, signup form, advertising integration, or analytics script added by us. You cannot transcribe files on the website; transcription happens in the native app.
The public website is hosted on Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process ordinary web connection information—such as IP address, requested pages, and browser information—to deliver and protect the site, as described in its Privacy Policy. This is separate from the native app’s local recording library. We do not enable Cloudflare Web Analytics for this site.
Changes and questions
We will update this page when the app’s data practices change and revise the date above. Future features such as payments, syncing, or analytics would require a fresh review of these disclosures; they are not part of the current app.
For a privacy question or request, email transcriptdrop@gmail.com. Because the developer does not hold your local recording library, deleting or exporting those files is done in the app on your device.
